Invisalign<\/a> uses clear aligners worn over your teeth to fix bite and alignment problems. Invisalign is virtually undetectable and offers various benefits not possible with traditional braces. Here are a few things you should know before committing to Invisalign.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n\n\n

Your Mouth May Be Tender<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Invisalign is more comfortable than traditional braces because there aren’t any brackets or wires irritating the insides of your cheeks or lips. However, no orthodontic treatment is completely pain-free. It’s normal for your mouth to be tender for a few days, which is a sign that your treatment is working. Your discomfort will improve the more you wear your aligners and will become less frequent as you progress through your series. You can manage any discomfort with an over-the-counter pain reliever and eating soft foods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You Must Wear Your Aligners Long Enough<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Invisalign is popular because it is removable; however, you must commit to wearing your aligners long enough. You must wear them for at least 22 hours per day. They should only be removed when eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You Must Switch Your Aligners On Time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your dentist will instruct you to change your aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on your treatment plan. Switching your aligners too soon can cause serious complications with your treatment because your teeth will move too quickly. Changing your aligners not according to your schedule can add delays to your timeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are No Dietary Restrictions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You don’t have to worry about skipping your favorite foods while on your orthodontic journey. Invisalign is removable, so there are no dietary restrictions. You must remove your aligners when having anything except water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You May Require Refinements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It’s not uncommon to require refinements after already beginning treatment. Refinements are additional aligners needed in between those that have already been created. They are needed to make minor adjustments if your teeth aren’t moving as anticipated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You Must Check In with Your Dentist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You won\u2019t have to see your dentist as often because you won’t require adjustments since there’s no archwire. However, you’ll still need to check in with your dentist every few weeks. They’ll monitor the progression of your tooth movements to ensure your treatment is on track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
