Natural-Looking Smile Repairs and Enhancements

Smiling woman

While metal restorations are durable and great for letting you chew normally again, they also tend to stand out in your mouth; you might end up feeling self-conscious about your teeth as a result. Dr. Newman can use all-ceramic restorations instead to give you a natural-looking smile that’s as attractive as it is functional and healthy. Contact our office to schedule a consultation and learn more about this treatment. Whether it’s for a cosmetic treatment or necessary repairs, we’ll give you a reason to grin again.

What are All-Ceramic Dental Restorations?

Ceramic crown

Restorations can be made out of many different materials such as gold, zirconia or metal alloys. However, our all-ceramic restorations are made out of porcelain, which has an advantage because it looks and feels like natural tooth enamel; not only will it be completely comfortable in your mouth, but people you meet for the first time won’t even realize that you’ve had any sort of dental work done!

The Process of Getting an All-Ceramic Restoration

Dental crown

Getting a ceramic crown, bridge, onlay or inlay typically takes at least two appointments. At your first appointment, any damaged parts of the tooth (such as those that have suffered from extensive decay) are removed. After that, we’ll likely have to remove some enamel so that the restoration will fit; in some cases, though, we might need to use composite resin to build the tooth up so that it can support the restoration in the first place.

When the tooth is ready, it’ll be time to take an impression that’ll be sent to a dental lab. The impression is used to create and customize a natural-looking restoration that’ll fit in your mouth and match your other teeth. This process might take a few weeks, so we may give you a temporary restoration to wear in the meantime. Once the permanent version is ready, you’ll come back for a second appointment to receive your restoration and complete your beautiful new smile!
